* What led up to the situation? upgrade gnome-session from 3.8.4-3 to 3.8.4-4 * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? try to shutdown the system with the gnome menu * What was the outcome of this action? hang the system * What outcome did you expect instead? system shutdown I have see that the 3.8.4-4 version fix the #735454 bug, I think this patch let you use systemd with gnome. If you don't have this package installed you don't have nothing that install it (missing dependency). $ dpkg -l systemd-sysv [...] +++-==============-============-============-================================= un systemd-sysv <nessuna> <none> (nessuna descrizione disponibile) you can solve this problem installing systemd-sysv by hand... but if a package try to remove it this problem pop up again.
