apt needs to be rebuilt with the trivial patch in bug #339533, and then aptitude needs to be rebuilt against a fixed version. (I could try to hack around it temporarily, but I'd rather just fix it right, given that it only affects the experimental release of aptitude, and the problem is generic enough that it's liable to pop out somewhere else).
