I don't see any problems with keeping the workaround for a while; it's
icky, but so is breaking deployed software. If we could get a fix into
the next stable update that would be great though!
Please ensure that aptitude doesn't break should we start adding https
(including redirects from http) to metadata.ftp-master at a later time.
