O.K. Thank you for the advice.

1. I will deinstall all unneeded header packages
2. I will install the correct one and check it with dbsums
3. I will try to install the original nvidia driver and prove if it will work
4. When there is no hope to find the problem up to this point i will make
a new installation of testing on the partition.

Is the linux-headers-3.12-1-common package correctly installed? (check with debsums) Before reinstalling, delete the manually created link.

Not used up to now - but i will find out.

I tried to correct this by a symbolic link:
linux-headers-3.12-1-common -> linux-headers-3.12-1-common-rt
the NVIDIA driver does not work under RT kernels, so get rid of the
linux-headers-3.12-1-rt-amd64 linux-headers-3.12-1-common-rt packages

i can't remember to have this packages installed.
They are not installed under wheezy!

Then i rerun the installer and get make2.log
I have no idea what's going wrong this time?
Nothings works. :-(
you probably don't need the uvm module ...

???

But this is not going to fix your problem. There is something X-related
broken as you could see in the failing vesa test. Maybe some outdated
library, forgotten file or symlink somewhere or a non-default
configuration setting somewhere.
Yes - but how to find out?
I thought it would be easier to get a running NVida-driver first.
Changing the tires does not get your car going if the battery is dead.

Correct. I just wanted to see if this works.
But i only found much problems with headers ...

You should really try to do a clean minimal jessie install on a separate
disk, ensure X is working properly, install the same package set as you
have on the "grown" system, ensure X is still working, and compare the
two installations.
Hmmm - yes - but that will take really much time.
I will try to do this, it will take time to find a day with some hours ...
Unfortunately I don't see another way to find the tiny difference that
breaks your system.

You have convinced me.

BTW, in your wheezy installation, which driver and kernel version were
you using? Did you test with the nvidia driver from wheezy-backports?
I posted somewhere at the beginning of the bug. It is 304.88-1+deb7u1
You mean i should install the backport driver on wheezy first?
I can try whatever can be done that don't need a half of a day.
319.82 backport was uploaded a few hours ago. See the backports page for
instructions how to use backports.

This should be rather quick and is just to verify that there isn't
something broken w.r.t 319.82 on your card.

But then i must reinstall a copy of my running system first.
I don't want to break my working system.
I think it is more sensefull to try a clean installation of testing?

Andreas

Cheers
Karsten
