Package: octave-plplot
Version: 5.9.9-5+b1
Severity: serious
Tags: upstream
Justification: fails to build from source
Control: block 735557 by -1
The current version of the plplot package FTBFS when built against the
octave package 3.8.0-2, currently in experimental. This will block the
transition of octave 3.6 -> 3.8, as required in Bug#735557.
This problem with the upstream sources of plplot happens because there
was a change in the header file version.h of Octave that triggered a bug
in SWIG [1], the wrapper used for generating the Octave binding for
PLplot. The SWIG developpers have fixed this bug in Git [2] and
announced that this fix will be included in the next release [3]. I
suppose that a simple recompilation of plplot against the forthcoming
release of SWIG will fix the present bug.
