Hi Daniel, Thanks for the quick response. I agree that this is a contentious issue without a true solution right now, which is why I am just proposing dh-autoreconf/autotools-dev for affected packages at the moment. I am personally not a fan of running dh-autoreconf by default, as it often requires fixes such as disabling -Werror or fixing macro directories in configure.ac. I am more of a fan of individual fixes where necessary. Also, note that (from what I can tell) an autoreconf is not necessary when the source package doesn't ship a binary specifically for a shared library, even if it uses libtool, so it would create extra overhead when unnecessary.
