Hello!
tiff currently FTBFS on m68k since the configure script doesn't
know anything about the host architecture [1].
The interesting bits from the build log are:

On i386, the host architecture is detected as:
"i486-pc-linux-gnu" [2]
while on sparc it is:
"sparc-unknown-linux-gnu" [3].
So, I am not sure if that's the actual problem.
