Hi,

the package descriptions read:

======================================================================= ===========
[...]
With additional transports and/or services, Jabber supports connecting
to AIM, ICQ, IRC, MSN and a lot of other chat networks. These transports
and services are provided in separate packages.
[...]
======================================================================= ===========

Nothing in this indicates that the transports will compile against 2.x or run within it.

However, the transports provided by Debian for the 1.x versions of
jabberd don't seem to be intended for jabberd2. There's also no
equivalent of jabber-dev in jabberd2. The transports typically need
jabberd.h etc.

The transports provided require the 1.x daemon to run. They can provide services for a 2.x server.

I don't see where the perceived problem lies.
