When using the IETF 5424 format with rsyslog, e.g.: *.* /var/log/ietf5424.log;RSYSLOG_SyslogProtocol23Format the log format violates the RFC if the process ID is null. A "-" NILVALUE should be used but an empty string is used instead. For example, this line: <6>1 2013-08-23T11:51:27.572594-05:00 newman-server kernel - - [2632402.380063] ... should be: <6>1 2013-08-23T11:51:27.572594-05:00 newman-server kernel - - - [2632402.380063] ...
