So the issue must be that you aren't properly transferring these conffiles between packages. Perhaps this post helps with that: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/ucgi/~cjwatson/blosxom/debian/2006-12-23-moving-conffiles.html https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/12/msg00647.html In addition, the second two files should be removed: pabs@chianamo ~ $ dpkg-query -W -f='${Conffiles}\n' mercurial | grep obsolete | tail -n2 /etc/mercurial/hgrc.d/mergetools.rc 256f6d68e04f68df651392d7019bad0a obsolete /etc/mercurial/hgrc.d/cacerts.rc 9f9020947cdcb24be9e042f5fa40a43a obsolete > Besides, I can't reproduce it on a clean sid chroot: Er, obviously you won't be able to reproduce it in a clean sid chroot that never had the old version of mercurial installed. If you aren't going to fix this issue, please close the bug and I will just purge and reinstall mercurial to get rid of this issue. -- bye, pabs http://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise
