Do I get you right, that you suggest to add password quality checking
mechanisms to cryptsetup?

Actually I don't like this idea. First, password quality checking is a
controversial topic. Second, cryptsetup is a _low-level_ tool for
managing dm-crypt devices.

You're free to write a wrapper around cryptsetup. For reference, you
might want to take a look at the luksformat script that's shipped with
the cryptsetup-bin package.

If you really consider password quality checking mechanisms a valid
feature request for cryptsetup, please discuss this issue upstream.
