So, you got a kernel Oops. Following the same steps with the previous version of xawtv won't crash? My guess is still a kernel module issue, but I'll try to follow the exit code of xawtv and check what could have changed. > If you need any other information please let me know. Please confirm me if the previous version doesn't crash. Also, the kernel error would be quite useful, but to obtain it you'll need to reproduce the problem, make sure to close all the other programs, save your files and sync your disks before testing this. Also you might need to take a picture of the screen if the computer ends up in a non-responsive state. It might be also valuable to check the reproduceability with only one of the cameras. Testing this bug with another computer (with a kernel version similar to the one you reported) I got an interesting message: This is xawtv-3.103, running on Linux/x86_64 (3.2.0-4-rt-amd64) xinerama 0: 1366x768+0+0 vid-open-auto: using grabber/webcam device /dev/video0 ioctl: VIDIOC_S_FMT(type=VIDEO_CAPTURE;fmt.pix.width=384;fmt.pix.height=288;fmt.pix.pixelformat=0x34524742 [BGR4];fmt.pix.field=ANY;fmt.pix.bytesperline=0;fmt.pix.sizeimage=202752;fmt.pix.colorspace=SRGB;fmt.pix.priv=0): Invalid argument Error: Object "xawtv" does not have windowed ancestor The last two lines are not printed with the previous xawtv version (3.102-3). After upgrading the kernel, and xawtv, the last two lines went away. So, it might be that the ioctl call ends up in kernel module error for the module that handles your webcam in your system. -- "If you think your users are idiots, only idiots will use it." -- Linus Torvalds Saludos /\/\ /\ >< `/
