I have now installed system-config-printer on an unstable machine using --no-install-recommends and the outcome is identical with what the bug submitter gets. That is, CUPS says: Unable to copy interface script - No such file or directory Uncompressing a PPD sees the print queue set up. This does not look like a bug in CUPS, so reassigning.
