Like in
http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/zdfmediathk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=569
, mediathekview fails to start for me with

Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException:
Desktop API is not supported on the current platform

As suggested there and elsewhere, I tried the Entwicklerversion
3.2.1_2013.03.27 (by taking the debian package, changing VER and the
hash for git checkout to 1553f86c9d54925ca4181924b57afd9f7fc84e53 in
debian/rules) -- and it works now.

I suggest to upgrade the package to this (or a newer) version (or to
find the relevant commits or something like this :))

Cheers,
gregor
