Actually (and for clarification, since you were not in the loop at that time) Lamont was well aware of the CVE-2013-2266 issue (from when it was still under embargo) and he was investigating the fix two weeks ago. Since we didn't heard any news from him, NMUing was a logical thing to do, but not adding those bits of information in the unblock bug didn't really help you to understand the rationales.
