Thanks for testing. TBH, I have no idea as I don't test pk-gnome on non-GNOME environments. Maybe there is an issue with how xfce4-session set's up the D-Bus session bus. This needs someone though who knows XFCE, so I've CCed Yves-Alexis. Hopefully he can help you.
