Package: flashplugin-nonfree
Version: 1:3.2
Followup-For: Bug #700092
Control: severity -1 normal

Hi all,
I was thinking about another way to safely ensure the flash plugin is kept up
to date.

Could the package maintainers bump the package version number every time
upstream releases a security update, and run
    update-flashplugin-nonfree --install
from the package's postinst script?

I noticed yesterday my flash plugin version lagged behind the latest release
by several fixes, so I manually ran update-flashplugin-nonfree and fixed it.
Most likely many users are in the same situation, and the vast majority doesnt
even know about the update script.

I expect my package manager to keep all the software it installs up to date, and
at this point, only the flash plugin seems to be an exception. As we all know
the security implications of running old versions of the plugin, this should
really be addressed.

Is that a convenient solution?

Thanks
