Has there been any progress on this? A similar bug was filed under Ubuntu's sane-backends project back in 2007 ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends/+bug/83957), with multiple confirmations as recent as March 2012 and no work towards a solution. I've had the same problem for years on Mandriva with my N650U, and it still happens after my recent move to Mageia. The only solution I've ever seen suggested is downgrading to version 1.0.15, which is long gone and doesn't actually fix the problem, it just brushes it under the rug. I feel strange asking about this on a Debian or Ubuntu bug report while I'm using Mageia, but this problem seems to be on multiple distros and this thread is the closest thing I've seen to real investigation and progress! Has anyone found the answer? Is there anything I can do to help?
