Hello Petter, The beginpage tag is called ubiquitous in Docbook DTD, so I guess that it can appear either inline or not. Marking it inline may have been a better choice, yes. But it has been removed in Docbook v5: http://www.docbook.org/tdg5/en/html/ch01.html#t.removed So I believe that it is not worth changing it now, David's workaround can be applied if needed. A placeholder is not a good idea; in fact, you should even drop <beginpage> in the translation. It does not make sense to mark break pages found in the English document.
