After a bit of debugging, I found in the Debian kernel config: CONFIG_CGROUP_MEM_RES_CTLR=y CONFIG_CGROUP_MEM_RES_CTLR_DISABLED=y and looking through the corresponding changelog: > * cgroups: Disable memory resource controller by default. Talking to Lennart, he mentioned that there was an upstream fix, which allows systemd-cgtop to run without all controllers being available. The relevant upstream commit is: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/systemd/systemd/commit/?id=63210a15e1efdbda3fb3abd9a6ae9961fd0ea153 I think we should cherry-pick that patch for wheezy.
