Actually, my bad, I meant to say: Please try echo "disk" > /sys/power/state when running under X. pm-utils nowadays basically just does that and leaves everything else to the kernel. I'm assuming you are using KMS? Check cat /proc/fb. -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
