Is this still wishlist? The issues outlined by the original requester in 2005 (7 -years- ago) seem relevant and in that time underlying kernel support has likely changed.
If it has not yet been fixed it probably should be. One function of a hardware network bridge is to adapt data-link packets from one type of 'wire' encoding to another; this includes repacking higher abstraction layer frames for transmission in the new media format if necessary (it is not necessary to attempt to reconstruct previously fragmented packets; though such a mode might go on a wishlist and that behavior would likely be preferable in the case of already repacking the message). Additionally the 'bridge' information is not documented within the man 5 interfaces manual; nor is there any pointer to further documentation; mtr is, of course, documented under the static interface configuration (but would also be useful for DHCP interfaces as an over-ride). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
