If you decide not to fix the package name, then libleptonica needs to at least have a Breaks against leptonica-progs and tesseract-ocr from squeeze. And likewise every time the ABI changes incompatibly. I'd have no objections to that, for what it's worth (though a package and library name like liblept0 moving forward would make the expectations clearer).
