(I assume the Replaces line here is abbreviated and that you mean a
versioned Replaces.)

Unfortunately this would not work because Replaces can only reconcile
file conflicts if both packages provide the file in their data.tar.gz.
In this example, xz-utils instead provides "lzma" through the
alternatives system; when the xz-lzma package is later removed it
would remove the symlink.

So we would need another fix.
