It might make sense to make the meaning of strategies not specific to each compression type, so using -Sextreme with -Zgzip would be a no-op instead of an error. But I don't think that's urgent --- it just sounds like something fun to do if I get (or some other interested person gets) a spare moment. Thanks for your thoughtfulness.
