as for cannot reproduce it - i am running stock debian testing 64bit

a thinkpad t500 - nothing other than stock repos and packages
installed
the package runs fine on my 32bit laptop using the same setup

Can you at least provide the whole output of running xfce4-power-manager
from command line? And maybe add a --debug switch.
