Incidentally, reverting the rmacs/smacs changes fixes that problem in
slang applications (mc and whiptail), but not in dialog.  Do I need to
revert the sgr0 change for that?

I'll probably revert all the linux changes from the 20110716 patch,
since their outcome seems unacceptable to me.
