OK, if I we can't solve this another way I can write a quick program
that sanitizes the directory blocks for you.  But We'll try to hold
that in reserve if absolutely necessary.  

I'll look at the data that you've sent me, and try to figure things
out.  In the future, could you send them to me with an English locale,
please?  Reverse translating through the .po files is possible, but it
takes extra time for me.  Many thanks!!

I'm really glad to hear you're able to reproduce the problem.  If you
could hold onto the original filesystem, I'd really appreciate it.
