doesnt show its value even though glade says it should... in the
window1_glade.cc
file it says set_draw_value(false) for every scale instance.

Hello,
I'm preparing the upload of glade 3.2 for unstable, which will take on
as the official Glade release in Debian. Code generation has finally
been removed from Glade, after being deprecated since Glade 2. Using
libglade is the recommended way of loading your glade-based UI.
