Package: udev
Version: 0.053-1

Desription :

After installing the package "udev", X could not be started any more.

Reason:=20

udev deleted all "/dev/nvidiax" (x=3Dnumber of device) and "/dev/input/mi=
ce"

After reboot, /dev/input/mice was already there, but NOT /dev/nvidia. So,=
 I=20
installed the nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx again, using the=20
NVidia-Installer-$version.sh. This installer inludes a script, which crea=
tes=20
new "/dev/nvidiax". X (and window-manager) now started fine. After a new=20
reboot, /dev/nvidiax was gone, and therefore, X didn't start again.

Possible solution:

One suggestion: Extract the NVidia-Installer.sh and use its nvidiamakedev=
.sh=20
during init. Make a symlink into your recommended runlevel, to point to i=
t.=20
So, you are sure, that the /dev/nvidiax is created, whenever you reboot=20
again.

Other idea: I do not know, if it is possible, to make a directory, named=20
"nvidia" below /dev. Might be, it will work.....

Thank you for youre work !

Best regards

Hans-J. Ullrich
