Yes both ubuntu and solaris are locale utf-8. Changing my solaris to locale C did not change anything..
Does anyone know why 'my_utf8_uni' is being called so many times, when the database/server is configured utf8, my tables are utf8 and i'm setting names utf8 on the client.. Anyone know of a way to get a count of this on ubuntu, I'm using dtrace on solaris.. All I know is that the same config is considerable slower on solaris when using utf8, but we get identical performance using latin1, opn both machines.
