I happen to come from an euro country where authorities worked
solely by FUDding, Kafka-style. That is the strongest mode of reign
available.
It appears that civil liberties won in 60s-70s in the US are being
pushed back in 90s. The question to ask is why is there less resistance
to this push back ? Is it just the oscillatory nature of human affairs,
or is the society settling back from the rare singularity ?
(The internet is, obviously, serving centralised powers better than it
serves individuals. In the long run, technology always serves the one
that can summon more talent, and it's not your average aoler.
