Today I wanted to move my cygwin root install directory from C:\work\cygwin to C:\cygwin in order to be able to use a set of scripts that assume cygwin is installed there. I deleted my old installation and ran setup again to install it in the new location. However, my new installation seems to be corrupt. The root directory only contains proc and tmp, there is no /etc or /bin for example. I think this caused all the postinstall scripts to fail, for example:
2008/07/14 13:37:03 running: C:\cygwin\bin\bash.exe -c /etc/postinstall/terminfo.sh /c/cygwin/bin/bash: /etc/postinstall/terminfo.sh: No such file or directory 2008/07/14 13:37:04 abnormal exit: exit code=127 This in turn seems to have caused several things not to have been initialized properly. I've searched the FAQ and mailing list for causes, and couldn't find anything that seemed to help. I've tried reinstalling several times, removing the cygwin registry entries, removing my cached packages, using just the base set of packages, removing extra entried from my PATH, and I still wind up with the same problem. I've attached cygcheck output. Can anyone shed some light on what's causing the problem I've been having? Thanks! Dave
