hi markus, I am aware of thais change and I had already anticipated, currently started a topic with Sam about the implementation of gamin and/or fam,
currently although his arguments are of more weight (it just works) I know that when something like this happened there are only two ways, either some maintainer does the unthinkable (take care of the almost dead package fam or gamin), or the dependent package is abandoned and the latter I don't want to happened. Sam, you are brave cos you alone mantains and support the best imap suite implementation (for me best, maybe not the most featured), I implore you please (because i do not have the necessary levels of expertise to help you with the source code), make that effort to get inotify implemented, I made high pressure (and markus will know that by all kind of ways je je) to Markus terribly to get the package improved and I am aware of the 30 current bugs in debian even investigating them if they still occur. an i want to implement that package for alpine linux too, but precisselly in that case fam/gamin is the problem.. To you Markus we need to clear that list of bug by not just closing.. i already know you also have issues outside of courier, but we need to sync the most possible the patches in debian to have a more easy work beetween distros and so Sam have a better help, due as is, is lees the work.
