I seem to have a similar issue:
After a seemingly random time the sever disconnects after a successful
login.
I can telnet but after successful logins i get disconnected after a few
seconds.

Where ::1 is telnet (obviously) and %IP is my mail client
As with the others, rebooting temporarily fixes the problem.
The problem is, I'm not using Gamin/FAM, nor can it be the MAXPERIP
setting because telnet from localhost will also get disconnected.
