I've upgraded :

rpm -U bash-2.04-18mdk.i586.rpm bash-doc-2.04-18mdk.i586.rpm 
termcap-11.0.1-4mdk.i586.rpm readline-4.2-1mdk.i586.rpm

 which fixed the problem.
