+1 for version 4 of the branch-1 patch.
I also was mistaken in thinking there were 2 separate race conditions: one
around the JMX cache and another around the update from the metrics sources.
If always pushing all metrics is sufficient to fix the problem in Ivan's tests,
then I think we're good.
