I'm still +1 on including this to show that we intend for it to be exposed via
the hadoop-client. as a nit, it'd be better to include comment in the pom
change that says as much.

One reason to do this is to make sure we bring things in where they're
required. We almost certainly don't need log4j in hadoop-client because of the
addition of the hadoop-yarn-client module. (though we end up needing it because
of other things). I'm not familiar enough with the hadoop-yarn-client module
yet to comment on how many of these dependencies are being excluded for this
reason.
