Review comment:
       @richardstartin Agree that `ScalarFunction` is not as efficient as 
`TransformFunction`, but we need `ScalarFunction` for ingestion transform and 
post-aggregation. We can add `ScalarFunction` for functionality first, then add 
`TransformFunction` for performance optimization later.
