Sorry this never got an answer. The HDFS connector was built on the camel-hdfs component, which Apache Camel removed in 4.4 (its last release is 4.3.0), so camel-hdfs-kafka-connector was removed in camel-kafka-connector 4.4.2 (#1581) and its last release is 4.0.3. Since there is no HDFS connector in 4.22.x, the only supported line, this compression problem can no longer be investigated or fixed here.
