This was settled when the generator moved to Kamelets (commit c08884936e, released in 1.0.0), which also removed the TODO. Each generated connector now gets the dependencies its Kamelet declares, data formats included (for example camel-cassandra-sink ships camel-jackson because its Kamelet needs it), and extra artifacts for a given connector can be declared in connectors/camel-kafka-connector-kamelet-fix-dependencies.properties. If you need another data format with camel.sink.marshal/unmarshal or camel.source.marshal/unmarshal, add its jar to the connector's plugin directory or build a connector with the extensible dataformat archetype (https://camel.apache.org/camel-kafka-connector/next/user-guide/extending-connector/archetype-dataformat-connector.html).
