You’re right. I checked the discussion in #2362: unmanaged Hive tables intentionally come after managed tables because AMS lists them for upgrades. My report treated the managed-list comparator as a contract for the combined list and missed that decision. This patch changes that policy without an agreed requirement, so I’m withdrawing it and closing #4409 as not a sorting bug.
