I agree that defining this is in scope for this group and it would be a valuable thing for us to pursue here. Anticipation of this sort of work was exactly why we added the channel mapping to RFC 7845. It's good to see this sort of interest in it so soon after that was published, and to have people with relevant expertise now wanting to contribute that here.
