Hello all, this is my first post, so forgive me if i get it wrong... ;/>
Nuno, you wrote : > Or if you are (as you intend to pass that idea) you > are just pitching a Nirvana that in the end your followers (customers) > will pay for it in ways they are not expecting (lots of $$$$)(Give me > the money and I'll make you dreams come true). Nuno, I totally agree with your point of view here, my company works with magazine publishers (our main market) helping them re-purpose paper content (converting PAO data into XML). These are basically small companies (or subsidiaries) that make their euros printing paper. Their goal is to re-purpose the content at a low price, in order to squeeze more use (€€) out of it. What I call the 'holy grail' (what you call 'nirvana') is the ability to create highly structured data at the source - so that you can seamlessly publish it on multiple sources. Now why do I call this the holy grail? Because even if it is 'technically' feasible, I am not at all sure that it is 'practically' possible (at least for my market !) You don't publish data the same way on a telephone, web site, intranet, paper etc. So that means you need to structure your data (at the source) for all possible existing and future publishing supports - and that is where things get complicated... So highly structuring your data 'at the source' takes : - A huge investment in people : the involvement and implication and training of the whole information chain, from journalists to layout artists to editors etc. - a huge investment in technology. My customers do not (especially in today's market !) have the budget to do these things. Maybe someday we will find the 'holy grail' for them, but I think it's going to take a while... And even tho' I'm pretty silent, I do enjoy this list.
