erichkeane added a comment. SO, I charted the differences in runtimes, and my patch is BETTER time-wise in release mode, but WORSE with asserts enabled. I don't know of any expensive assert that I added. SO, if everyone could review this, I'd love to get this committed to see if it beats the buildbots this time:)
