Just because without -useinfo the result is playable in the CD player
in the car as well as on the HiFi system.. And since some early CDs
made use of pregap and similar to hide bonus tracks, and having
everthing play back as track 2 was kind of similar to me...

Oh, did that change? (and documented where btw, Couldn't find it in
readmes) - changelog indicates it has been there since 2010 - must
have slept under a rock :-)
