one thing that comes to my head is the following. In stage and karbon it is possible to align a shape with the page. That can be done if only one shape is selected and you then use the align buttons. This will align the shape on the page. How about you try to make that work also for words. If you need help with that you can send me a mail or try to reach me on IRC (Zagge). Also Pierre is working on getting calligra build on windows. He already succeeded but there is still a lot of work done as most optional dependencies are not there yet.
