I've completed initial finishing touches on a shell and shell task
within the plugin so that I can (1)send messages directly from the
shell, and (in regards to the task)(2)test the load on my server, and
if it's at a predetermined high level, send an alert to my iPod Touch,
including the load levels themselves.

If anyone's wondering what the difference between this and a text
message or email is:
 - text messages can get congested and lost on some networks during
peak delivery times (New Years?)
 - I can set "sleep hours" in Prowl to not disturb me at specified
times (per application?); I haven't used this feature yet
 - upon receiving a Prowl message, I can (optionally) set specific
actions for my iPod Touch to take, depending on the application that
has sent the message (i.e.: received a new comment on my blog? Open up
Safari to that specific comment page)
 - can only be received on a device with the Prowl client installed
 - I have an easy API to work with (from prowl.weks.net)

What's the same:
 - they're still basically "instant" (I currently find Prowl messages
more responsive)
 - they're not guaranteed to arrive (email and txt msgs are inherently
possible to get lost), but thus far I haven't lost any
 - it's basically all text as far as the message itself is concerned
