Follow-up Comment #1, bug #34167 (project make):
GNU make 3.81 was released almost 5 1/2 years ago. Many bugs, including
memory bugs, have been resolved since then. Please try with the latest version
(3.82) or even the latest version available from CVS and see if you still have
memory errors.
