Title: the_hurd_blurb
The
GNU
Hurd is a
dynamic
operating system being written by a group of core developers lead by Thomas
Bushnell, BSG. The Hurd itself is a
system
of servers using
translators
for the user/server interface that run on top of the
GNU
Mach microkernel to manage such things as file systems, network protocols,
file access, and other features. A satellite development group is
in the process of porting libraries and applications as well as implementing
bug detection in preparation for the
Debian
GNU/Hurd distribution. Installation of the hurd at present is
through the
large tarball
method or
cross-compiling.
